Richmond to Host Junior Wheelchair Basketball Tournament

November 18, 2002 - The BC Wheelchair Basketball Society (BCWBS) is excited to be hosting the 3rd Annual Junior Wheelchair Basketball Challenge November 23-24, 2002. This fun-filled tournament will take place at the Basketball Centre - 14380 Triangle Road in Richmond, BC.

BCWBS are expecting approximately 75 participants, who range in age from 8 - 18 years, to play in both an 8ft (Mini) and 10ft (Junior A) hoop height wheelchair basketball tournament. There will be teams and participants from Richmond, North Vancouver, Surrey, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Prince George, Seattle and Alberta. The day will consist of morning and afternoon games, lunch, a 2-ball competition and awards and prizes at the end of the day.

BCWBS would like to recognize tournament sponsors The BC Dairy Foundation Milk Run, BC SCHOOL SPORTS, Coast Capital Savings, and the Loyal Protestant Association for their support.

BC Wheelchair Basketball Society is a non-profit organization providing support to wheelchair basketball programs throughout British Columbia. Programs are offered to people who have physical disabilities and people who do not and to all age groups from eight-year-olds and up.
