Several BC Paralympians Competing
February 23, 2004 - The BC Wheelchair Basketball Society (BCWBS) in conjunction with Douglas College will host the 2004 BC Wheelchair Basketball League Finals (BC-CWBL) March 6th to 7th, 2004 (Saturday & Sunday) at Douglas College New West Campus (700 Royal Avenue, New Westminster). The BC-CWBL is a provincial wheelchair basketball league providing competitive opportunities for registered teams throughout the province. A fully integrated league, it features male and female athletes with and without a disability playing together in a spirit of competition and camaraderie. The league culminates in a provincial championship tournament.
Eight teams from around the province will attend including Douglas College Dingos, Douglas College Pride, Douglas College Royals, Kamloops Bulldawgs, New West Dynamos, Mid-Island Tsunami, Victoria Capitals and Okanagan Thunder. The winning team in division 1 will earn the right to represent BC at the Canadian Finals in New Brunswick March 26 to 28, 2004. Games run from 9-5pm on Saturday and 9-4pm on Sunday with the division 2 finals at 12:30pm and division 1 finals at 2:15pm.
BC Wheelchair Basketball Society (BCWBS) organizes a wheelchair basketball league, the BC-CWBL. The BC-CWBL is unique in that teams are comprised of men and women, juniors and adults, and individuals with a wide range of disabilities and their able-bodied peers. The league is provincial in scope and offers opportunities for teams from various regions around the province.
