2023 BC Wheelchair Tennis Provincial Program Announcement

BC Wheelchair Sports Association is pleased to announce the members of the BC Provincial Wheelchair Tennis Program for the 2023 Season. Selection to the program was determined based on an athlete’s potential to represent BC at national and international levels of competition, demonstrated commitment to training, and ongoing development and improvement. We are extremely excited about the upcoming season and the future of our players!

Thomas Venos, Trevor Hirschfield and Kevin Bowie named finalists for Sport BC Athlete of The Year Awards

BC Wheelchair Sports is proud to announce that Wheelchair Tennis athlete Thomas Venos, Wheelchair Rugby player/coach Trevor Hirschfield and Wheelchair Rugby official Kevin Bowie are all finalists for Sport BC Athlete of The Year Awards. 

Award winners will be announced at the Sport BC Athlete of The Year Awards Gala on March 9th.

Team Canada competes at the BNP Paribas World Team Cup Qualifier

Canada's Men's and Women's Wheelchair Tennis Teams competed at the 2023 BNP Paribas Americas Qualifier in Puebla, Mexico from Febraury 13-16. 

BC athletes Thomas Venos and Barry Henderson donned the red and white to compete for the Men's Team while Provincial Coach Sarah Hunter captained (coached) the Women's Team in Mexico. 

The Men's team got off to a strong start as they won their first two matches 3-0 against Peru and Guatemala before dropping a tight match 2-1 to group winners Costa Rica. 

Save The Date - Junior Sport Camp Returns This Summer

BC Wheelchair Sports is excited to announce that Junior Sports Camp will return this summer. Mark your calendars and save the dates as camp will run from August 14-18 at Fraser Heights Community Centre. 

Children and youth will get the opportunity to try a range of wheelchair and parasports including Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Tennis, Wheelchair Rugby, Athletics, Boccia and more.

Registration is now open for the 2022 Vancouver Invitational

BC Wheelchair Sports is excited to announce that registration is now open for the 2022 Vancouver Invitational! 

Teams are invited us to join Team BC, March 11-13 at the Richmond Olympic Oval to compete in one of North America's longest-running wheelchair rugby tournaments. 

Registration is open until January 30th at this LINK and the complete registration package is available at the bottom of this page. 
 

Team BC Headed to The Birmingham Nationals in Montreal

The BC Provincial Wheelchair Tennis Team is headed to Montreal to compete in the 2021 Birmingham National Wheelchair Tennis Championships from November 4-7. 

BCWSA is sending one of the biggest teams that we've ever sent to Nationals with 8 athletes set to represent BC this year.  Anmore's Thomas Venos will look to defend his Men's Singles title from all challengers including teammate and doubles partner Barry Henderson (Mission).
