BCWSA Athletics Athletes Set The Bar

massive-dev | May 27, 2016
8 BCWSA athletes were on hand at the Dogwood Track and Field Meet over the 1st weekend of May. Between them, they set six personal bests, including three by relative newcomer Dakoda Darling. Wheelchair rugby veteran Ryan Schweiser made his club throw debut… and immediately beat the Canadian Record at Men’s 51 Club Throw, with a 16.99 metre effort. Schweiser shattered the previous record of 15.59 metres; you can be certain athletics coaches will be keeping an eye on the newcomer.
Sedrick Skabar and Peter Isherwood performed in their first international meet at the IPC Grand Meet – Desert Challenge in Arizona from May 11th – 14th. They were joined by four other BCWSA athletes, including Jessye Brockway, who broke her Female F57 Canadian Record in Shot Put with a throw of 7.67m.
Keep an eye on our athletes as they move into the summer months! This weekend alone, we have athletes competing as near as Nanaimo and as far away as Notwill, Switzerland. Best of luck to them all!
