BC Wheelchair Sports is excited to announce the athletes and coaches selected to represent BC at the 2025 Canadian Track and Field Championships presented by Bell – July 30 to August 3 at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility in Ottawa, ON.

7 athletes will represent BCWSA at Nationals this year, with an exciting mix of new and returning athletes.

Paulo Guerrero, Daryl Yuen, Tiana Hesert and Paralympian Julia Hanes all return to Team BC this year and will look to have another great competition. Our veteran athletes will be joined by three exciting rookies in Jessi Guerrier, Brooke Perepeluk and Darrion Payne, who are all ready to make their Nationals debut in Ottawa.

Guerrero and Guerrier will be sprinting down the track in Ottawa. Competing in his third nationals, Guerrero will compete in the Men’s 100m, 400m, and 1,500m wheelchair races, while Guerrier will compete in the Women’s 100, 200m, 400m and 1,500m wheelchair racers.

Hanes, Payne and Yuen will all be competing in multiple throwing disciplines. Payne and Yuen will be competing in the Men’s Seated Shot Put, Discus and Javelin, while Hanes will aim to defend her national titles in the Women’s Seated Shot Put and Javelin and hopes to add a new one in Discus.

Meanwhile, Hesmert and Perepeluk will be pulling double duty by competing with Guerrier in the Women’s Wheelchair Races and also testing themselves in the throwing circle.

Most of the team will be in action at the BC Athletics Outdoor Track and Field Championships from July 4-6 at Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam before departing for Ottawa at the end of July.
