After three great days of wheelchair tennis, champions will be crowned at the 2016 ITF3 Vancouver International Wheelchair Tennis Tournament tomorrow at Kits beach tennis courts.
The action will start at 9:30 when Marc McCarroll (GBR) takes on Kouhei Suzuki (JPN) in the men’s singles finals and Emmy Kaiser (USA) takes on Kaitlyn Veruerth (USA) in women’s singles. All four athletes will be competing at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, and the points they win here will impact their Rio seeding.
Next, Gary Luker (CAN) and Rob Shaw (CAN) will compete in the quad singles final, and local teenager Tomas Bourassa (CAN) will play Todd Hanover (USA) in the men’s consolation final.
The day will conclude with an exciting men’s doubles final between Marc McCarroll (GBR) / Kouhei Suzuki (JPN) and Chris Herman (USA) / Casey Ratzlaff (USA).
“Tomorrow’s finals will allow local spectators to see Paralympic-level wheelchair tennis,” said BC Wheelchair Sports Association Executive Director Gail Hamamoto. “It will be a great way to end what has been a fantastic weekend of tennis.”
