Congratulations to Joel Ewert (Prince George, BC) and Jeff Scott (Victoria, BC) on being selected to attend the Wheelchair Rugby Prospects Camp in Toronto from Jan. 11 – 14th. Eight of the most promising new athletes from across Canada will train under elite coaches — including BC head coach Adam Frost — and learn about how to live a high-performance lifestyle at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
The goal is to identify prospective athletes for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and provide these athletes with intensive training early to accelerate their development.
The other selected athletes are:
- Mike Barker (Calgary, AB)
- Branden Troutman (Edmonton, AB)
- John Loeppky (Regina, SK)
- Matt Delby (Windsor, ON)
- Anthony Letourno (Montreal, QC)
- Jeremy McDonald (Halifax, NS)
The athletes will be joined by peer mentor Kristen Cameron. Cameron, who is the niece of Ottawa Senators coach Dave Cameron, was a high-level hockey player and coach before she sustained a spinal cord injury.
Good luck to Joel and Jeff!
