Say Hello to The Newest Member of Our Fleet

Last year, we brought you the story of Barney the Wheelchair, the wheelchair that for 20 years introduced hundreds of people with disabilities to wheelchair sports. Your generous donations helped us to replace Barney, ensuring that the next generation of athletes with a disability will have the equipment they need to pursue their sports dreams.

We’re proud to announce that Barney’s replacement has arrived and is already having a huge impact. This new wheelchair is built to accommodate a greater range of body types, and it’s super lightweight. Since its arrival, it has been used at clinics, sports camps, track meets and Have a Go Days by a wide range of participants: from up-and-coming athletes to the parents of junior athletes racing alongside their children.

This new wheelchair has a long life ahead of it, so it needs a new name. From now until Giving Tuesday, comment on our Facebook post, Tweet at us (@BCWSA) or leave a comment on Instagram and help us name the new wheelchair! You can also email arley@bcwheelchairsports.com.
