BCWSA Launching New Series To Celebrate Our 50th Anniversary

massive-dev | July 16, 2021
2021 marks the 50th anniversary of BCWSA and as part our plans to commentate this incredible milestone, we’re excited to announce a new project that will delve into the history of Wheelchair Sports in BC.
We’re diving into the archives and pulling out the old address book to bring you stories about the key moments, incredible figures and historic events that have shaped BC Wheelchair Sports into the organization that is today!
Our goal is to shine a light on many of the parasport stories you’ve never heard of and bring new attention to those that you may have forgotten. From successful teams, and record-breaking performances to entertaining anecdotes from behind-the-scenes at major events and info on the origins of long-lasting programs like Bridging the Gap and Junior Sport Camp, we’re covering it all!
This exciting project will bring our history to life in new ways and feature a mix of video interviews, written content and podcast episodes as part of the BC Wheelchair Sports Show which we launched earlier this spring!
The first episode of the 50th Anniversary Series will be released on Monday, July 19th and features current BCWSA President Laurel Crosby and former executive Director Kathy Newman who will be discussing their 40-year friendship and experiences in wheelchair sports throughout the decades.
In addition to the special 50th Anniversary Series, we’ll also be releasing Paralympic Profiles on Canadian athletes (from both BC and other provinces) in the lead-up to the Tokyo Paralympic Games. To learn more about the BC Wheelchair Sports Show and listen to past episodes and series, click here or search for us Spotify, Apple Podcasts or Anchor.
