• Coach Spotlight: Kendra Todd

  • massive-dev  |  September 27, 2020

Our next and final coach spotlight of the week is on wheelchair rugby coach Kendra Todd. Kendra is an incredibly hard-worker and a quick study who’s applied her years of coaching able-bodied sport to wheelchair rugby.

As the head coach of the Okanagan Rattlers Wheelchair Rugby and the assistant coach with our high-performance program, she works with athletes of all levels and is always looking to find new ways to help her athletes improve.

The Ph.D. student at UBC Okanagan starting coaching wheelchair rugby at the club level before moving into the role of assistant HP coach in 2019. In this role, Kendra serves as an assistant with our elite athletes in the Provincial Team and as the head coach of our up-and-coming Development Team.

Kendra always goes above and beyond as a coach. She works hard to grow the sport in the Okanagan and around the province while doing a little bit of everything including organizing practices, fixing chairs, and recruiting new volunteers and team members into the wheelchair rugby community.

“My favorite aspect of coaching wheelchair rugby is being part of the process. Creating practices and drills to prep for competitions and then watching players execute successfully in a fast-paced game puts an instant smile on my face. As a fairly new coach in the sport of wheelchair rugby, I love to learn from the team and appreciate every bit of knowledge and feedback that I receive too. The camaraderie in wheelchair rugby is incomparable and I’m privileged to be surrounded by an incredibly skilled team of players, co-coaches, staff, and volunteers.”

BC Wheelchair Sports is incredibly fortunate to have dedicated coaches like Kendra who are passionate about improving lives through sport and who work tirelessly to push their athletes and sport forward. Join us in saying #ThanksCoach to Kendra!
