• Notice of 2022 BCWSA Annual General Meeting – September 28 2022

Please be advised that the BCWSA 2022 AGM will be held at 6:00pm on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022.  Members must register to attend the meeting by contacting Operations and Fund Development Coordinator Matt McDonell by email coordinator@bcwheelchairsports.com by September 14th, 2022.  Registered attendees should indicate if they would like to receive a Zoom link/call in details to join the meeting, or attend in person at 780 SW Marine Drive, Vancouver.    


An agenda is included with the attachments on this page and all reports will be distributed via email to registered participants ahead of the meeting.


NOMINATIONS

There are 3 positions on the BCWSA Board of Directors up for election at the 2022 BCWSA AGM.  To date, there are three incumbent nominees, all of whom are current members of the Board of Directors, as follows:

Dean Mackinnon
Dean has served on the BCWSA Board for over 25 years. He served as an official for wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby for over 35 years. Dean is seen as a builder and leader within the organization. He serves as the Director of Finance on the BCWSA Board, overseeing the financial operations of the organization.
 

Teri Thorson
Teri has served on the BCWSA Board for 8 years. Teri is Paralympian from the sport of Wheelchair Athletics and a former wheelchair rugby athlete who is now developing her skills in coaching. She is a former member of the Board of the WC Race Series and current President of the BC Wheelchair Rugby Association.  Teri works with Spinal Cord Injury BC as their Virtual Peer Program Coordinator. Teri brings an athlete, coach and program leadership perspective to the organization.
 

Judy Joseph Black
Judy has served on the BCWSA Board for 4 years.  She is the Event Manager for the BC Senior Games Society, and previously worked as the Event Manager with the BC Games Society assisting host community volunteers in the planning, operation and planning of the BC Games. She has extensive knowledge of para sport, having worked as part of the communications team on the 2010 World Wheelchair Rugby Championships and on mission staff for multiple Paralympic Games with the Canadian Paralympic Team. She worked with the provincial government as Sport Consultant, and managed the National Women’s Soccer Team.

In accordance with the BCWSA Constitution and Bylaws, nominations will be accepted up to September 21st, 2022.  The nomination form, including submission details is included with this package.

Members may complete a proxy form which, as a voting member of this Association, gives you the opportunity to have a vote by designating a member in good standing to vote on your behalf.  This proxy vote is to be used only if you are unable to attend the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, September 28th, 2022.
